A webinar is a seminar conducted on the Web. It is hosted by a specific individual or institution and features a set agenda. It can be offered in asynchronous or real-time format (or a mix of both). As this is conducted online, webinars often include downloadable worksheets, slideshows and when using real-time, live audio and sometimes video. Participants can post questions and respond to survey questions posed by the host.

When webinars employ only real-time instruction, we have seen numerous technical difficulties and a basic flaw in the general approach of expert speaking to many without people being able to participate.

Tip for participants - use headphones and a microphone to eliminate feedback (the nasty cricket noises).
