Minnesota shares a Lake Superior water border with Michigan and Wisconsin on the northeast; the remainder of the eastern border is with Wisconsin. Iowa is to the south, North Dakota and South Dakota to the west and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba to the north.

“Minnesota” is derived from the Dakota phrase Mni Sota Makoce, or Land Where the Waters Reflect the Clouds.

Food

Minnesota is known for its wonderful hot dishes, regional casseroles often topped with tater tots. Luckily there is more to Minnesota that hot dish and lutefisk. The is growing - connecting restaurants around the state with healthy local foods like farm-raised meat and vegetables.

Walleye is the state fish.
