Headlines: Local CBS/Cox

Can we continue to stream cbs if Cox discontinues the local CBS channel on TV?
Can we use the cbs app?

What bothers me is that I no longer know how to use the TV as a TV
Lo que me molesta es que ya no sé cómo utilizar el televisor como un televisor

Pay for 'Free' Broadcast ,
The 1992 Cable Act requires that every TV provider obtain permission from local broadcasters to provide their station on their line-up. Legally, Cox Communications cannot remove any local broadcast station, but these stations are allowed to deny Cox the right to carry their channel – which is why they often demand increasingly larger payments for ‘free’ TV.

Nexstar Broadcasting

Dear Cox Customer,

As you may know KLAS TV 8 is not currently available on the Cox lineup. This is because the network owner, Nexstar Broadcasting Group Inc., is not allowing Cox to make this network available to our customers. We are working hard to resolve this matter and end the impasse. However, we know you may be concerned about being able to watch Super Bowl 50 in the comfort of your home, and we want to give you as many options to see the game as possible.

Alternate Viewing Options for Super Bowl 50

• On TV: Cox is providing a free preview* of ESPN Deportes to all Cox TV customers in Las Vegas on channels 16 and 1016(HD). ESPN Deportes will be televising the Spanish-language broadcast of Super Bowl 50. As negotiations continue, Cox will work on additional solutions to offer the game in English. For now, customers can also listen to the English commentary on local radio stations 100.9 FM or 1100 AM.
• Online: Customers can go to and stream the game live on a computer or tablet.
• Antenna: Digital TVs that were manufactured after March, 2007, and older TVs that are connected to a separate converter box (not a cable box), may be able to access KLAS TV 8 free over the air when paired with an inexpensive antenna.

We appreciate your patience during this time; our goal is to reach a retransmission consent deal with Nexstar's KLAS as soon as possible. Please visit to find alternative viewing solutions for other CBS shows, and to learn more about our negotiations with KLAS.
