Experiential Travel

Ron Mader:
I love the notion of ‘experiential travel’ but I find that it often comes with a certain arrogance — what I can get, replacing material goods with experiences. There's little or no attention paid to the experiences of the locals.

Don’t get me wrong. I love great experiences, but I love even more the experiences that locals can enjoy as well. Today on Twitter the Mexican tourism board was touting Mexico as a place for experiential travel, but what draws me to Mexico are the experiences that I can share with Mexicans. Getting to meet locals on their home turf is a great attractions anywhere on the planet.
